This lecture will explore the complex relationship between cancer and the immune system, covering key concepts such as the hallmarks of cancer, the role of antigen-presenting cells and T cells, and the function of immune checkpoints. It will review veterinary approaches to cancer immunotherapy, with a focus on immune checkpoint inhibition and novel strategies for treating osteosarcoma. The session will also highlight the Ardent K9-ACV Clinical Trial—covering its background, study design, outcome measures, and participating sites, including MVES—providing attendees with both scientific insights and practical applications in veterinary oncology.
